Kerouac loved sports - baseball?

Makes sense.

My dad was a beat (Ferlinghetti remembers Kaffke) who started out as a boxer (he boxed at Winterland once for the Golden Gloves title) and ended as a horseman, winning blue, white, red and yellow ribbons in Marin County for jumping his prized appaloosa.

Bob's boat was festooned with all the colors of the rainbow from those things!

But he'll be remembered by friends and foes alike for his scrawls and poison pen postcards.
